Bull's Eye! Attracting Ideal ClientsIdeal Clients

By Anette Peiper

Wow, it’s crazy how many entrepreneurs I have talked to lately that when I ask the question “who is your ideal client or customer” they say “good question, I’m not sure” or “I’ll have to think about that one”. If you don’t know the answer to this all important question, listen up! You are missing out on money every day…it’s just passing you by like arrows flying past the target and at such velocity that you aren’t even aware that you are missing out (or maybe you are and don’t know how to stop the madness).

You see, if you can’t define who your ideal client is then you are missing the mark and are probably not even hitting close to the target. In order to hit the bull’s eye and attract your “target” or “ideal client” then you have to be laser focused on your “bull’s eye client”. This takes some serious focus. I want you to sit down this week and ask yourself 4 important questions.

  1. How old and what gender are they? Be specific! Your products and services are geared towards a certain age range and perhaps a specific gender. Yes, you may get customers and clients outside of that range and remember, we are defining the bull’s eye, not the target range.

  2. What are the problems or needs that your product or service solves or addresses for them?  You must identify their pain point. People generally buy to get out of pain or discomfort. This will help you focus your marketing.

  3. Why will they purchase your product or service over someone else’s? What is your unique selling proposition (USP)? How do you stand out in the marketplace? You must identify your USP otherwise you will be just another face in the crowded marketplace.

  4. Where do I find them? How do I reach them easily? Where do they hang out? Once you’ve identified them, you need to know where to find them and how to reach them.

Once you have identified your “bull’s-eye” customer or client, create an avatar that represents exactly who they are. What do they look like? Where do they hang out? What’s their family like? What do they do for a living? How much money do they make?

Those are just a few more questions to use to create your avatar. Once you have created your “bull’s eye” client or avatar, then you can begin to design your marketing strategy to attract that person. You can get really specific on how to reach them through their pain point. You may need some help with brainstorming. It can be quite a process and if you are serious about making money, you must schedule the time to do this and get help if you need it.
